Information Architects (iA) has released their latest beta version of the Web Trend Map and it looks to be an improvement over the last years awesome release.
Each year, iA breaks down the internet into arbitrary categories based on usage and content provision. Whereas in 2007 iA had categories like: Sharing, Tools, Knowhow, Design, Movies, etc. the 2009 version demonstrates broader (and more accurate) categories such as Application, Publishing, Opinion, News, etc.
The 2009 map uses a 3D isometric approach and yeilds a richer and more compelling image worthy of occupying a good amount of wall space if one were so lucky as to be one of the first 1,000 responders for a free print. I've got my request in. Now I'm just keeping my fingers crossed.
