Announcing the Latest Addition to the Team

Boxing Clever is so pleased to announce our latest acquisition: Ali Siegel.

Ali Siegel has hit the ground running here at our office – (that's a nice way of saying "Thank God you're here. Now here's a mountain of work that you'll be buried with") and has the awesome job of Account Executive for our Brown-Forman accounts.

Currently, Ali has been helping manage the Tuaca Body Art Ball which has been in full swing since January of this year while balancing that with ongoing digital campaigns and consumer promotions for Chambord liqueur.

Welcome, Ali! We're so proud to have you as part of our family.

Here's the full press release:

St. Louis, MO–April 5, 2010 – Boxing Clever, a local advertising agency with a bull’s-eye on the sweet science of strategy and design, today announced the recent hire of Ali Siegel as Account Executive. Siegel is managing accounts for Brown-Forman, including Tuaca and Chambord and is assisting with new business and client management for additional clients.

Prior to joining Boxing Clever, Siegel served as the Marketing and Events Coordinator for Metromix St. Louis where she executed events, media partnerships and media placements. She and her team successfully launched a new brand that grew into one of the most successful entertainment sites in St. Louis and one of the largest Metromix sites network-wide, all in less than two years.

Prior to Metromix, Siegel spent three years at Drive Agency as an Account Supervisor. She worked on the Anheuser-Busch team and managed program accounts for Northern Ontario Tourism, Saint Louis Science Center, Saint Louis Symphony, Mitre Shoes and Bakers Footwear Group.

While at Boxing Clever, Siegel has most recently been managing a nationwide campaign with Tuaca, promoting the Tuaca Body Art Ball. She plays a central role in the event, traveling from market to market promoting and executing the show.

“Ali brings enthusiasm and further creativity to our growing team,” said Dave Scott, partner of Boxing Clever. “Her passion and commitment for Boxing Clever’s clients is remarkable.”

Siegel refers to herself as a lifelong product and advertising junkie and feels lucky to be a part of an industry that never gets dull. She says she is constantly learning and growing as an Account Executive. Siegel looks up to the partners and senior creative team at Boxing Clever and feels fortunate to have a great wealth of strong female role models—coming in the form of clients, friends and industry veterans.

Advent Conspiracy gears up for 2009

Boxing Clever digital branding and online strategy makes its way to the pages of Advertising Age...

Advent Conspiracy is a movement created to restore the meaning of Christmas. As the modern culture continues on path of fevered commercialism - spending approximately 450 billion during that season alone, Advent Conspiracy inspires people to give more of themselves and putting just a little money towards a gift that really means something.

Featured in Advertising Age, the communication strategy for Advent Conspiracy proved how social media can help ignite a movement, allow people to contribute their own stories of giving and encourage others to do the same. With the organization still in it's infancy, close to 2 million people visited the website and one of the partners of [AC] - Living Water International - received $1.5 million for fresh water wells to be installed in Africa.

Boxing Clever is working with [AC] right now for the upcoming 2009 Advent season and is looking forward to growing what is already a worldwide conspiracy.

Introducing 4 Alarm Studio – 2.0

Our graphics production brethren of 4 Alarm Studio launched their new site last week, courtesy of Boxing Clever. 4 Alarm specializes in image manipulation & creation and print production services. Boxing Clever did the site architecture, interface design, video animation and design, music performance and recording, flash animation and Flex/XML backend administration. (Okay, so in short we did the whole thing. Maybe I should've said that sooner, but it was such a big production, I think it's important to note what all went into it. )

I've found that typically portfolio heavy sites tend to be built in all-Flash environments. This lends strong control over the behavior and animation of the portfolios (read: sexiness) however search engine optimization cannot be done for individual pages and sections and makes it much more difficult to update and maintain (unless you custom build a back-end admin). That's why it's important to take a careful and thorough approach to website design. Because if you jump in willy-nilly you'll come across too many "woulda, shoulda, coulda's" when it's all done, and next thing you know, it's costing a LOT more than it should. Everything should be taken into consideration: interface architecture, intuitive navigation, information flow, aesthetic visual quality, experiential and emotive interaction, SEO, archiving, updating and maintaining. That's why planning is very important up front. In the long run, it saves a lot of grief.

Creatively, we wanted the site to be a very quick read. The home page offers an entertaining 30-second video to explain why 4 Alarm Studio is so important for brand marketing. The work section provides a quick glance at the portfolio but for more in depth explanation, go to the Case Studies for an interactive (and fun) experience that uniquely shows how 4 Alarm transforms concepts and first draft images into final pieces. The studies were done in Flash so that you can drag a bar that shows a time lapse of the transformation. All portfolio and case study pieces were built in a Flex database so 4 Alarm can update the individual pieces easily and keep the content fresh.

Gateway Interactive Marketing Association Golf Tourney

On June 25th, we hit the fairways of the Forest Park Golf Course to join our friends and colleagues at the first annual GIMA golf event. It was a hot day but the beverage carts were stocked and roaming while the trees offered plenty of shade. The 4 ball scramble had a great turnout and, thanks to our sponsors, the event costs were covered. We started out with lunch at noon, so we were able to catch up with what our friends are up to and got to meet a lot of new people. At 1pm, we loaded up and headed out for a shotgun start. The load-in looked like the start of a Nascar race and we took a moment to thank our sponsors: Platform-A, Knotice, Customer Motivators, Perficient, specificmedia, clarabridge, point roll, and Core Metrics.

Jim and I teamed up with a couple of gals from tSunela, internet marketing and SEO specialists and thank god we did, because they carried us off the tee everytime. Not that the dudes couldn't hit the ball far, mind you. It's just that it's hard to find your way back to the fairway when you drive 250 yards in the wrong direction. So, Kaysha and Kristy were hitting the ball straight and true (Kristy won the longest drive competition) and Jim and I stepped up with our approach shot and putting. We didn't make par, but we didn't embarrass ourselves too much. After all, when you can rock out on the fairway like we did, bashfulness isn't in the equation.
